The Stitchmunity Big Idea
Three stitchers met through a rare Google pull, by a fluke of internet luck. Their shared love of cross-stitch and passion for building safe and cozy spaces sparked Stitchmunity: a dream of a place where stitchers could form a community, a place that felt like your local needlework shop with a nice place to sit and chat and share with other stitchers the cool stuff you've made and want to make.
After a lot of work and a lot of learning to code on the fly, Stitchmunity was born - a place where community over competition is the way we live, and sharing our love and knowledge of stitching is what we do.

Heather St-Amand | StitchWit
she/her
Heather lives in Ottawa, Ontario, has been married for 15 years and has one daughter. She has been cross stitching on and off since childhood, but consistently for the last 5 years. Heather started designing patterns in 2020 and opened her online shop Stitch Wit the same year. Many of her designs have funny sayings, are seasonal or have a silhouette that uses the fabric to make the design.
DH Morris | TheCozyDH
they/them
DH is a queer, disabled former healthcare worker who lives with their spouse and a small zoo of animals. They learned to cross-stitch in the distant past of the 1900s, but it was in 2022, after becoming permanently disabled as a result of their frontline work in caring for at-risk communities during the pandemic, that they turned to cross-stitch as a major source of comfort, eventually breaking into the world of cross-stitch design.Â
While they hope to some day be able to return to healthcare in some small capacity, building communities that care about each other is what DH has always done, and will always do.
